The Teas That Keep Me (Mostly) Sane

The Truth About Tea and Sanity

I used to think tea was for people who had their life together - quiet mornings, silk robes, maybe a meditation playlist playing softly in the background.

Now? I drink tea because it helps keep me sane.

Some days it’s a ritual, some days it’s a rescue mission. Either way, it’s become part of how I support my hormones, my nervous system, and my sanity - one mug at a time.

🍃 Spearmint Tea - The PCOS Lifesaver

If you have PCOS, you’ve probably heard of this one. Spearmint tea helps reduce excess androgens, which means fewer breakouts and more balanced hormones.

It’s not a miracle, but it is a gentle helper - especially for hormonal acne and that “wired but tired” feeling that comes from insulin spikes.

Plus, it tastes crisp and fresh - not like medicine disguised as tea.

How I drink it: in the mornings.

🌼 Chamomile + Lavender - The Calming Blend

 My anxiety tea.

I make it before bed, or after one of those days when my brain just refuses to power down. The combo of chamomile and lavender softens the edges - it calms my heart rate, eases muscle tension, and gently signals to my body that it’s safe to rest.

🌙 How I drink it: an hour before bed, with my magnesium stack and phone on Do Not Disturb.

🍓 Raspberry Leaf Tea - The Hormone Helper

A postpartum and cycle-support staple, raspberry leaf tea is one of those quiet heroes. It supports uterine tone and can help ease cramps - and I noticed a real difference in comfort during my adenomyosis flare-ups.

It’s earthy, grounding, and tastes like strength - the kind that doesn’t shout.

🌸 How I drink it: a few days before my period starts, or whenever I feel my hormones shifting.

The Ritual

But beyond the ingredients and benefits, tea has become something bigger.

It’s a pause. Boil the water. Exhale. Wait for the steep.

It’s five quiet minutes that belong to me - a reminder that small rituals are self-care.

A small shift:

When I stopped treating self-care like a project and started treating it like a pause, things actually started to heal.
